prepared just ahead of you
Chapter 1 is ready first; the next chapter’s podcast and video start when you finish reading this one, so NotebookLM’s allowance goes where you’re headed.
featured project · macOS app
Turn a book you own into tiny learning loops, with Pip, a red panda who studies with you.
live from GitHub
01the loop
Chapters open one at a time. Each one moves through the same loop, and the book map grows as you go.
A podcast and an explainer video for every chapter, made by NotebookLM or by your own AI and voiced right on your Mac.
The chapter itself, with a study guide beside it. Pip counts real reading at a real pace, not a fast skim.
Close the book and explain it back in your own words. Each key idea is checked against what you actually wrote.
Rebuild the chapter’s concept map from memory, then compare. The whole book’s map grows one chapter at a time.
Flashcards scheduled with FSRS, so every card comes back just before you’d forget it. Then the next chapter unlocks.

Including models that run entirely on your Mac. Everything is checked and retried before it reaches you.

Played 85% of the podcast, read the pages at a human pace, finished the quiz, reviewed every card: the step completes on its own.
Pip lives in your menu bar and nudges gently. Away a while? Silly mode plays a tiny sad violin, then a sad meow, then a shocked “fahhh”.
An iPad app and a private Google Drive library keep your books, cards and progress in step between your Mac and iPad.
Your books stay on your Mac, keys live in the Keychain, and the app sends nothing home. No accounts beyond the ones you choose.
Python pipeline, Swift 6 core, SwiftUI app, around 870 tests. Free for personal use under the PolyForm Noncommercial licence.
05get it
Get NeuralLoop. It’s free.
Open the download and drop Pip on the Applications folder.
The first time, macOS asks: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. The app isn’t notarised yet, so this is a one-off.
